Renee Undeleter can help you recover those files that you have erased from your computer or even portable storage devices, no matter if it was by accident or intentionally. And not only that, this program can even undelete data from reformatted partitions. The tool has a nice straightforward interface and most of the operations are done with the help of a wizard, which makes it appropriate for practically any type of user.
The program supports four main operations. Fast Partition Scan is, as its name implies, the fastest but also the least accurate. It works fine with files that have been recently erased as a result of emptying the Recycle Bin. Whole Partition Scan, in turn, can check all of a partition and list the files it contains. It comes quite handy when you are dealing with a formatted partition. In more severe cases, you can use Whole Disk Scan, which scans the entire storage device to reconstruct partition info and simulate its partition table. Finally, there is always the possibility of creating a partition image, which works as a backup. So, even if the disk becomes totally damaged, it is always possible to get your files back. Office files can receive a special treatment, because they can be previewed, which helps improving the quality of their recovery process.
All in all, Renee Undeleter works just as expected. When I tested its free version, it was able to find several files and even identify their recovery rates. Unfortunately, however, the unregistered product can only recover up to 20Mb, which is definitely too little in a world where data is increasingly measured in gigabytes.
